Somil Bansal
Somil is an assistant professor in the AA Department at Stanford university. Before that, he was an assistant professor in the ECE department at the University of Southern California. His long-term goal is to develop a theory that formalizes the design, analysis, and control of autonomous robots that operate intelligently but safely in complex environments.

Javier Borquez
Javier joined the SIA Lab in the Fall of 2021 as a PhD student; he got his Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the Universidad de Santiago de Chile. His research interests are in designing and deploying robots that leverage safety techniques to closely interact with humans.
Kaustav Chakraborty
Kaustav is a Ph. D. student at the University of Southern California. He received his Master's degree in Robotics from the Robotics Institute of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology, India. His research interests lie in safe perception and intelligence of autonomous robots. (P.S. He can be easily distracted by discussions about dogs, soccer and culinary exploits!)
Hao Wang
Hao recevied his Bachelor Degrees in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering from the Univeristy of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He is interested in control theory, optimization, and safety-critical robotics.
Albert Lin
Albert joined the SIA Lab in the fall of 2023 as a PhD student after receiving a B.S.E. degree in Computer Science at Princeton University. His main research interests are at the intersection of machine learning and cognitive science, especially as it relates to robot control and safety. He is currently supported by the NASA Space Technology Graduate Research Opportunities fellowship progam.
Zeyuan Feng
Zeyuan received his Master's degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and Bachelor's in Electronic Information Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. His research interests lie in the intersection of machine learning and formal safety analysis in robotics.

Aryaman joined the SIA Lab in the Fall of 2024 as a PhD student. He received his Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi. His research interests lie in developing safe and robust learning-based controls for autonomous systems.

Shuang Peng
Shuang joined the lab as an MS student at USC and is currently a PhD student at USC. He recevied his Bachelor Degrees in Robotics from Southeast University, China. He is interested in exploring the safety and control for legged robots.

Krinal Doma is a graduate student in Aerospace Engineering at USC. He is interested in using data driven methods for autonomy and control.

Saim is a first-year student studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California. He is interested in mechanical design, control theory, and autonomous robotics and its applications to robotic natural disaster response.

Xingpeng Xia
Xingpeng (Richard) Xia is a 3rd-year undergraduate at Tsinghua University, majoring in Automation with a minor in Statistics. He's passionate about Machine Learning, Optimization, Statistics, and Control Theory. In summer 2023, he applied parameterized reachability to control a compass gait walker, and now he is committed to advancing his research in the field of robotics, with a focus on providing safety guarantees for robot systems.
